The Taurasi Riserva della Società by Joaquin is deep ruby red, especially when young, but with advancing years it turns garnet red.
The nose is rich and complex, ethereal and complex with aromas'of ripe red cherry fruit, somewhat floral, but also somewhat fleshy, with earth, wood bark, coffee and tobacco. A rich layering of aromas’s, constantly evolving in the glass.
In the mouth dry, full-bodied, balanced with great structure. Balanced with the aromas’s, complemented by a touch of fresh eucalyptus for spiciness. The tannins are perfectlyïntegrated and never aggressive. The warmth in the wine is nicely balanced by freshness. Every sip is an experience, from the first onset to the endlessly, long, sizzling finish.

An iconic wine, this Taurasi Riserva Della Società from Joaquin. The grapes come from an equally iconic plot in Paternopoli, at an altitude of 550 to 600 meters, with pre-phylloxera vines between 150 and 200 years old! Made only in the very best years. Since the first vintage in 2009, the wine has only been made in 2010, 2014 and 2015.
The grapes are hand-picked in early November. After gentle pressing, the wine ferments spontaneously with autochthonous yeasts in stainless steel and old barrels. The skins remain with the juice for at least four weeks, after which the wine ages for more than twice as long as the appellation requires - at least three years in previously used cane and acacia barrels, plus another four or more years in bottle before release. The wine is brimming with earthy aromas's and flavors, reminiscent of damp wood, cool herbs and wild fruit, and is able to remain agile despite a fearsome density.
